Hair Styling
The haircut of the month
("Fluffy hairdos don't have a future before them", Sam McKnight, hairdresser by appointment to Lady Diana,1995)
Toasting Agency has asked twelve artists to think of a haircut project to be presented as such in the hair salon and integrated in the context's codes of presentation (books, video demonstrations, presentation kits, drawings, ...).
Hair is going to be cut, modeled, and worked out, for the best results. Hair Styling allows eleven artists projects to transit through the savoir-faire of a hairdresser, Valerie and her team. Each of these artistic projects oscillates between a model to follow and a statement to be interpreted.
As a response to Marcel Duchamp's assertion ("The work of art is a rendez-vous, be careful not to miss it"), Hair Styling introduces itself as a "show without appointment".
